Why Do Rescues Have Adoption Fees?

Along with daily care costs, the adoption fees help Friends of Madera Animal Shelter cover vaccination and medical prep costs for the pets.

Adoption Fees

Dogs
  • $300 - Puppies 0-8 Months
  • $250 - Dogs 8 Months - 2 Years
  • $250 - Dogs 2-5 Years
  • $250 - Dogs 5-9 Years
  • $125 - Dogs Long-Term Fosters
Cats
  • $400-500 - Specialty Breeds
  • $350- Kittens 0 - 8 Months
  • $250 - Cats 1 -5 Years
  • $250 Cats Long-Term (Specials)

Fees for dogs or cats with special needs will be determined based upon circumstances and may result in a fee reduction.

Adoption Inclusions

Along with daily care costs, the adoption fees help Friends of Madera Animal Shelter cover vaccination and medical prep costs for the dogs & cats. At adoption, Friends of Madera Animal Shelter dogs and cats will be current on their vaccines and will have the following:

Dogs
  • Rabies (1 yr. or 3 yr.)
  • Distemper (DHLPP or DHLPP-C)
  • Bordetella
  • Negative Heartworm, Lyme's, Anaplasmosis and Ehrlichiosis Test
  • Lyme Vaccine (if relevant)
  • Altered - Females Spayed or Males Neutered
  • Micro-chipped
Cats
  • Rabies & FVRCP
  • Worming
  • Fle/Ear Mite treatments
  • Altered - Females Spayed or Males Neutered
  • Microchipped
